Poem: Drifting in and out of sleep
I'm trying to read but my eyes are heavy and my mind is wandering, so I put my book down and give in to the allure of sleep. I drift. In and out of consciousness. Brain slowing, ready to switch off.
A soft noise wakes me.
Something outside. It doesn't continue for long, but I turn and return to the wandering thoughts that had led me to this. And there you are.
In my head, touching me. Whispering in my ear.
I imagine your hands, lips and breath on me. You're not there beside me but you're inside me, in a way. In those arousing thoughts as I drift off to sleep once more.
