Poem: Sunday morning
Spreading out in an empty bed
I realise your absence
Walking the dog, no doubt
Taking time
In the peace and quiet
Of Sunday morning
While I slowly awaken
Thinking of you.
Reflecting on what happened
The night before
We both remember
Delicious little glimpses
In our minds
Of skin upon skin
Of our bodies wrapped in each other
On top, inside
Mouth, lips, tongue, fingers.
You return and offer breakfast
We sit on the bed
Eating pastries and fruit
Drinking coffee
Talking, smiling
Desperate for this not to end
The longing
The passion
As our connection deepens.
Once our breakfast is over
We retreat back
Into the bed
Under the duvet
Nightwear removed and lips locked
Once again
Skin upon skin
Our bodies wrapped in each other
On top, inside
Mouth, lips, tongue, fingers.
